Enable Burst Mode to Speed Networks
In its default installation settings the Novell Client opts for conservative settings as regards network traffic, and the packet burst settings in particular. Yet, in most Novell networks where the client PCs are running very recent versions of the NetWare Client, where the hub is a reputable brand, and where the network cards in use are good quality network cards, we have found that setting the Packet Burst Client settings to their maximum value can have a significant performance improvement for the end-user PC when accessing large files on the Novell Server as well as for all other network related tasks.
