Three days before Google launched its Google Developer Day conference in Sydney, Australia, Microsoft revealed its latest bid to attract more developers to its .NET platform: Gadget vs. Gadget contest. In this latest battle for the computing platform of the future Microsoft has launched a contest to design and develop the coolest gadget for its new operating system Windows Vista. The contest is similar to Google's Summer of Code tournament, in which hundreds of university and college students compete for a top spot in this competition. Both software giants a looking at ways to attract new developers onto their own platform.
